Who we are

La casita del Husillo is a socio- cultural, sports and educational project based in Havana, focused on protecting the rights of children, women, vulnerable people, the care and protection of animals and the environment.

Our Programs

Our Programs

We focus on several crucial areas for the development and well-being of children and families. Each program is designed to offer sustainable solutions and improve the quality of life in our community and Havana.

Dance and Sports

Our dance group focuses on rescuing Afro-Cuban and peasant traditions through music and dance so that our children can learn about their origins and be proud of their roots.

We also have a football team and a baseball team.

Child protection

We work to ensure a safe and protective environment for all children in our community.

We developed a system of workshops and community interventions on important topics such as combating all forms of violence, protecting the environment, sex education, gender, breastfeeding, combating racism, and some artistic expressions such as painting and singing.

Soup kitchen and medicine for all

We ensure access to adequate food and essential health services for families.

We also have a system for collecting medicines through donations, which we share with children's hospitals and orphanages.

Community Empowerment

We have a community laundry that employs single mothers and grandmothers to generate decent jobs for women who struggle every day to support their children and grandchildren.
